Checking that this year\u2019s stuffing, turkey, potatoes, green beans, pumpkin pie, etc. haven\u2019t suffered any regressions from last year is a top priority! We plan to run multiple tests on every dish (to maximize coverage as much as possible, of course)! It&#8217;s free to download, and then you connect your mobile device and start testing your app through the tool, reporting any bugs you find and you can even push them to Jira. While you test your app, Apptim analyzes your mobile app performance and automatically creates a report with all the important data that it gathers about potential crashes, resource usage, power consumption, etc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><b><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><br \/>\n<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"http:\/\/testlink.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-12632\" src=\"https:\/\/abstracta.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/illustration-v-2-min-300x260.png\" alt=\"apptim illustration\" width=\"300\" height=\"260\"><\/a> <\/span><\/b><\/b><\/span><b style=\"color: #000000; font-size: inherit;\"><b><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"TestLink\"><\/span>TestLink<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #333333;\"><span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/testlink.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TestLink<\/a><\/span> is a powerful open source tool for test management. It allows you to create test cases, organize them into plans and projects, establish traceability requirements linking cases and system requirements, assign the execution of test cases, track them, generate reports, and more! Having a test management tool enables us, the testing team, to accompany the development process and not slow down the release of new versions. It also lets us easily manage and maintain a large number of test cases, distributing them among the test team, making design and execution more dynamic.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Selenium_Builder\"><\/span>Selenium Builder<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">You can record test scripts for<\/span> <span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seleniumhq.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Selenium<\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">(a web browser automation tool) with this simple browser add-on. This is mainly useful when you are new to Selenium, once you\u2019ve got plenty of practice, you can directly code your tests. This tool is so much better than working with the original Selenium IDE because it has more features, even the possibility to send your tests directly to the Selenium test cloud by Sauce Labs.<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><b><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mantisbt.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6907\" src=\"http:\/\/www.abstracta.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Screen-Shot-2016-07-14-at-10.15.27-AM-min-3.png\" alt=\"selenium-tool\" width=\"435\" height=\"385\"> <\/a><\/span><\/b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mantis_Bug_Tracker\"><\/span>Mantis Bug Tracker<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mantisbt.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mantis<\/a><\/span> is an issue management system that enables you to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">manage the bugs found during test execution. This tool assures you that everyone involved is following the process for finding bugs in the corresponding life cycle <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and it also generates useful metrics for the project.<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Fiddler\"><\/span>Fiddler<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #333333;\"><span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telerik.com\/fiddler\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fiddler<\/a><\/span> is an HTTP debugger that helps to debug web applications by capturing network traffic between the browser and the server. Before the browser receives requests and responses, Fiddler enables you to inspect incoming and outgoing data to monitor and modify them. It also includes an event-based scripting subsystem, which can be extended by using any .NET Framework language. It\u2019s also great because Fiddler and the HTTP replay options can help to troubleshoot client-side issues with web applications by making an offline copy of the test site. Our team has developed some extensions in order to generate a JMeter script from a Fiddler session.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Jing\"><\/span>Jing<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #333333;\"><span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.techsmith.com\/jing.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jing<\/a><\/span> is a tool that we have always used for several years. It allows you to record video or take pictures of the entire screen or sections of it, enabling you to select a window or panel with a single click. Then, the images can be easily edited where you can add boxes, arrows, and text to add more information. The videos can then be adjusted by using <span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.techsmith.com\/snagit.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Snagit<\/a><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/discover.techsmith.com\/try-camtasia\/?gclid=CJTF6bT3pskCFY-PHwodJPIDaw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Camtasia<\/a><\/span>. Our tester Fernanda noted that using Snagit, you can capture screenshots of the entire screen, even if it has a scroll, and it stores the entire sequence of screenshots for you.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><b><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"http:\/\/nmon.sourceforge.net\/pmwiki.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6906\" src=\"http:\/\/www.abstracta.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Screen-Shot-2016-07-14-at-10.15.37-AM-min-3.png\" alt=\"jing frog\" width=\"428\" height=\"294\"> <\/a><\/span><\/b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"nmon\"><\/span>nmon<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A free tool to analyze AIX and Linux performance, <span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/nmon.sourceforge.net\/pmwiki.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">nmon<\/a><\/span> is<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;helpful for presenting all the important performance tuning information on one screen and dynamically updating it. It does not consume many CPU cycles (usually below two percent and on newer machines, CPU usage is well below one percent). This tool is great because it provides the same amount of information that you would normally have to use five or six tools to get. We use it with<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibm.com\/developerworks\/aix\/library\/au-nmon_analyser\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nmon analyser<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which processes all the data into very useful graphs.<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Page_Speed\"><\/span>Page Speed<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #333333;\">This <span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/speed\/pagespeed\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tool<\/a><\/span> is essential for figuring out what exactly is slowing down a &nbsp;website on the client side and what to do about it. We enjoy using it because the information presented is very clear and easy to understand for testers and non-testers alike. Detailed explanations are given for why you should make each improvement and how it could be beneficial. It can also shed light on optimizations that you weren\u2019t aware of before. It\u2019s a self-service, load and performance testing cloud, compatible with open source<\/span> <span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/jmeter.apache.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JMeter<\/a><\/span>,<span style=\"color: #333333;\"> the popular performance testing framework. It\u2019s a great solution for both developers and QA as it provides an enterprise-grade, JMeter environment with unlimited load testing capacity, comprehensive, interactive real-time reporting and sophisticated result analysis and recommendations. We like it because<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #333333;\"> it\u2019s a cost-effective, straightforward process to get scripts running through its simple and intuitive interface. Also, its main advantage is that we don\u2019t have to worry about the test infrastructure.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Taurus\"><\/span>Taurus<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">We were so excited when this tool came out that we even wrote a whole<\/span> <\/span><span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abstracta.us\/2015\/09\/07\/introduction-to-taurus-an-alternative-to-jmeter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">post<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dedicated to it. To give a quick description, <span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/gettaurus.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taurus<\/a><\/span> is a tool for easily generating scripts in JMeter<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Grinder or Gatling<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in a more user-friendly way with its <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">language based on JSON or YAML instead of XML. This enables people with less experience to generate scripts. One of its many benefits is that you can also use pre-existing scripts. As it was created by the creators of Blazemeter, you can also easily integrate with it.<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>In addition to our top 10 testing tools, there are also some other highly recommendable, non-testing tools that we just had to share:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Trello\"><\/span>Trello<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #333333;\"><span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/trello.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trello<\/a><\/span> is a simple and useful tool in which many of our tasks are managed. You have boards with lists and post-its or as Trello calls them \u201ccards\u201d that you can attach to the lists. We usually have a \u201cTo Do\u201d, \u201cDoing\u201d, \u201cWaiting\u201d, and \u201cDone\u201d list on each board, following the <\/span><span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stickyminds.com\/article\/kanban-software-testing-teams\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">kanban<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #333333;\"> methodology for getting things done. A task moves from list to list depending on which state it\u2019s in. Some boards we have are dedicated to client projects, our marketing activities, etc. This tool is so helpful because it provides increased control and monitoring of team tasks, helping to assign and prioritize them according to a deadline.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Slack\"><\/span>Slack<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #333333;\"><span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.slack.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Slack<\/a><\/span> helps us minimize the number of emails we send between employees. There are several instant messaging channels that we have set up in order to discuss work and non-work related topics. There is even a built-in robot called Slackbot who helps keep notes and files! It\u2019s fun because you can add a reaction to someone\u2019s message with an emoji.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Canva\"><\/span>Canva<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #333333;\"><span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/canva.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canva<\/a><\/span> has been our go-to design tool. It enables you to easily pick what type of graphic you want to make (from a Facebook cover page to an infographic) and is loaded with free graphics, text formats, layouts, templates, photos, fonts, etc. You can even upgrade to the business version in which it saves your brand\u2019s logo, font, and colors for rapid production. The best thing about it is that it is extremely intuitive- no need to seek training to use it.<\/span><\/b><\/span><b><b><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.xmind.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6905\" src=\"http:\/\/www.abstracta.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Screen-Shot-2016-07-14-at-10.15.48-AM-min-3.png\" alt=\"canva tool\" width=\"500\" height=\"237\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"XMind\"><\/span>XMind<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #333333;\">A free mind mapping and brainstorming <span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.xmind.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">software<\/a><\/span>, we love to use it because mind maps are a great way to brainstorm and share information. This tool can capture ideas, clarify thinking, manage complex information, and promote team collaboration for higher productivity! It\u2019s a great tool because you can draw them very quickly.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Adobe_Kolor\"><\/span>Adobe Kolor<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It used to be called \u201cKuler,\u201d but this tool is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cooler <\/span><\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">than the rest (see what I did there?)! <span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/color.adobe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kolor<\/a><\/span> is an online app that helps you try out, choose, and save color schemes quickly. We used it for this infographic by browsing and selecting one of the<\/span> <\/span><span style=\"color: #00b674;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/color.adobe.com\/create\/color-wheel\/?copy=true&amp;base=2&amp;rule=Custom&amp;selected=2&amp;name=Copy%20of%20Happy%20Thanksgiving&amp;mode=rgb&amp;rgbvalues=0.419608,0.015686,0,0.74902,0.333333,0.090196,0.921569,0.729412,0.223529,0.635294,0.419608,0.207843,0.407843,0.184314,0.015686&amp;swatchOrder=0,1,2,3,4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thanksgiving themes<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #333333;\">!
