It is always invigorating and inspiring to exchange ideas and meet pioneers in Agile testing. We were also so excited to see such a diverse group of speakers, from all over the world, with almost half of them being women. While we look forward to all of the different aspects of the event, here are five sessions we\u2019ve already marked on our calendars.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Testing_as_Part_of_the_Team_Culture\"><\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #00b674;\">Testing as Part of the Team Culture<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #5e5e5e;\">by\u00a0Claudia Badell<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Nourish your team culture to truly adopt testing as team responsibility.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By one of our fellow Uruguayan testing community members (and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/testinguy.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TestingUY<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> organizers, the largest testing conference in South America), we\u2019re highly anticipating this session because something we feel very strongly about at Abstracta is bringing testing out of its silo and sharing the responsibility for quality among all team members. She will share from a six year period that covered eight major releases, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">what her interdisciplinary team has learned from the testing perspective and how they built a strong team culture outside of testing.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Owning_Our_Own_Narrative\"><\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #00b674;\">Owning Our Own Narrative<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #5e5e5e;\">by\u00a0Angie Jones<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Let&#8217;s redefine what it means to shift left.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Good \u2018ol \u201cshift-left,\u201d our favorite, recent term in the testing and dev world. Angie Jones, a consulting automation engineer, wants to explore how to climb out of the box that we testers have been placed into and redefine what it means to shift left &#8211; from our perspective.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As an aside, check out this <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/johnfriedamakeastatement.voxcreative.com\/ad\/16717252\/angie-jones-women-of-color-tech\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">documentary<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> about how she is also changing the narrative on women of color in tech by salon giant, John Frieda! <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"DevOps_Challenge_Why_and_How_to_Test_100_Builds_per_Day\"><\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #00b674;\">DevOps Challenge: Why and How to Test 100 Builds per Day<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #5e5e5e;\">by\u00a0Andreas Grabner<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The new role of a tester thanks to DevOps: Learn from production failures <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and automate their detection in the delivery pipeline.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the tester\u2019s role and testing are critical for the success of DevOps, the tester\u2019s objective changes\u2014from finding more defects to understanding the patterns that make deployments fail. Grabner will explain which technical metrics\u2014# of SQLs, # Memory Allocations, # of Service Calls\u2014to capture while testing in order to identify bad coding and architectural patterns earlier. This will be a great session because, in the DevOps world, it no longer matters how many tests we create, execute, and problems we report; the most valuable outcome is the success rate of our team\u2019s deliverables.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Keeping_Your_Tests_Lean\"><\/span>Keeping Your Tests Lean<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #5e5e5e;\">by\u00a0Meaghan Lewis<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;As your number of tests grow, they often become messy and unreliable. <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keep your tests lean so they always deliver value.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As automation enthusiasts, we know at Abstracta that sometimes automation efforts can get out of hand seemingly overnight and we <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/abstracta.us\/blog\/test-automation\/regaining-confidence-in-automated-tests\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lose confidence in them<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. That\u2019s why we are looking forward to hearing Meaghan present methods that you can use to keep your automated test suites lean and mean so that they will always provide quick and accurate feedback to the team. She\u2019ll discuss ideas such as evaluating a test\u2019s value over time, parallelizing tests, and tips on eliminating the typical flakiness that gets associated with UI tests.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Challenges_to_Effective_Performance_Testing_in_CI\"><\/span>Challenges to Effective Performance Testing in CI<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #5e5e5e;\">by Federico Toledo<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Performance Testing in CI is a must. If you are looking to invest effort and <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">money in it, you&#8217;ll better take certain things into account from day one.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oh hey, this presenter looks familiar! Our co-founder, Federico Toledo, will address all the nuances of performance testing in CI, which we believe is a must.
