Making more women aware of the possibilities in the testing world matters

Techy for the Day is an initiative to bring girls and young people closer to the IT industry and we love it!

The technology industry in Uruguay needs more trained people who want to develop themselves professionally. There are currently more than 15,000 professionals working in the IT sector in Uruguay.

In the midst of this pandemic in Uruguay, 76% of the companies that are part of the IT industry went through it without sending any personnel to unemployment insurance and 91% of them experienced new business opportunities. 97% of the companies adopted the teleworking modality, allowing employees to work from wherever they choose.

The gender gap is still significant, more women are needed in this industry with great employment potential! These are just some data from this promising and demanding industry where software testing is an excellent gateway.

In this edition of Techy for the Day, seeking to contribute to the complex situation that exists at the employment level, we focused on women seeking new horizons and we showed them that their skills and attitudes can be very valuable in the IT industry.

Alongside ReconverTIte Mujeres in Testing, the invitation was to think about the world of work and how to better prepare for a possible future as a software tester.

Some of what we shared in this meeting:

• We presented an overview of the technology industry and its opportunities and benefits
• We provided tips to better prepare for job interviews
• We shared a guide on how to train in this area
• We gave a brief workshop on what testing is like
• We heard testimonies from “Abstracteras” who are walking the road with us.

To close, Lu guided us to imagine possible future jobs and we reaffirmed our great commitment to generating more opportunities for development and inclusion.

Yesterday’s call was very good 😃 and together with Florencia, Stephanie, Lucía, Mariana, Carolina, Paula and Agustina, we thank those who joined us very much.

Dar a conocer las posibilidades del mundo del testing a más mujeres es importante. 

Techy por el Día es una iniciativa para acercar a niñas y jóvenes a la industria IT ¡y nos encanta! 

La industria de la tecnología en Uruguay necesita de personas capacitadas y con ganas de desarrollarse profesionalmente. Actualmente son más de 15.000 profesionales que trabajan en el sector TIC en Uruguay.

En medio de esta pandemia que vive el Uruguay el 76% de las empresas que son parte de la industria de las TICs la atraviesan sin envío de personal alguno al seguro por desempleo y el 91% de ellas experimentaron nuevas oportunidades de negocio. El 97% de las empresas adoptaron la modalidad de teletrabajo permitiendo esto trabajar desde el lugar que uno elige.

La brecha de género sigue siendo importante ¡se necesitan más mujeres en esta industria con gran potencial de empleo! 

Estos son solo algunos datos de esta industria tan prometedora como exigente en donde el testing de software es una excelente puerta de entrada.

En esta edición, buscando aportar a la situación compleja que se vive a nivel empleo, pusimos foco en mujeres que buscan nuevos horizontes y les mostramos que sus habilidades y actitudes pueden ser muy valiosas en la industria IT. 

De la mano de ReconverTIte Mujeres en Testing la invitación fue a pensar el mundo del trabajo y cómo prepararnos mejor para un posible futuro como tester de software.

• Les presentamos información general de la industria de la tecnología y sus oportunidades y beneficios
• Brindamos tips para preparse mejor para las entrevistas laborales
• Compartimos una guía de cómo formarse en este rubro
• Dimos un breve taller de cómo es hacer testing
• Escuchamos testimonios de Abstracteras que están recorriendo el camino con nosotros

Para cerrar, Lu nos guió a imaginar posibles futuros laborales y reafirmamos nuestro gran compromiso con generar más oportunidades de desarrollo e inclusión. 

La convocatoria de ayer fue muy buena 😃 y junto a Florencia, Stephanie, Lucía, Mariana, Carolina, Paula y Agustina, agradecemos mucho a quienes se acercaron.
