We are proud to announce that we are ranked No. 6 of “Best places to work for women in Uruguay”, in the category of organizations with less than 150 employees, according to Great Place to Work.
What does this recognition mean for Abstracta? We are convinced that the rankings in the business world have significant value when they are elaborated based on the perceptions of the people who work inside the companies.
They show what is happening behind closed doors, they show us what we have to improve and what we should continue to focus on. They enrich us.
Measuring something like culture is very difficult. It is intangible and very dynamic because everyone has their own experience. That is why the rankings are important beyond the numbers; their relevance lies in what we do with them.
The numbers show how we are in regard to different aspects, and where we are positioned in terms of our experience in promoting wellbeing and well-feeling.
The gender perspective, which is the focus of this ranking, is an issue for everyone. It has a direct influence on people’s well-being and quality of life. Generating more equitable environments depends on both women and men, and benefits us all.
“Eighty-five percent of the assessment is based on what employees report about their experiences of trust and achieving their full human potential as part of their organization, regardless of who they are or what they do. The remaining pieces we consider include an assessment of the day-to-day experiences of all employees in regards to the company’s values, people’s ability to contribute new ideas, and the effectiveness of their leaders, to ensure they have a consistent experience,” explains Great Place to Work.
The fact that this ranking is prepared by a global people analytics and consulting firm based on the responses of the people who make up Abstracta, and put in relation to the perceptions of those who work in the other companies nominated by Great Place to Work, means a lot. It’s the result of honest opinions, and a simple way to share what goes on inside the company on a day-to-day basis.
“Recognition by a third party with a defined and refereed process confirms that we are on the right track. Giving visibility to this helps us inspire other companies to follow the same path,” said Federico Toledo, COO of Abstracta.
“This is not a matter of winning or losing. In fact, what I want most is for all places to be good places to work, both for women, foreigners, young people, etc. That more companies position themselves and show themselves in this way will lead to others not wanting to be left without this differential. Personally, I aspire to generate a virtuous circle of growth for the industry in general,” he continued.
“Equity is a very important value for Abstracta and to see that what we value is perceived as a reality by a large part of our team is fundamental. It makes me feel happy and proud,” expressed Matías Reina, CEO of Abstracta.
“I am happy for the recognition, we have to celebrate every achievement. But this is not the end, it is just a step on a long road of continuous improvement,” concluded Federico

Abstracta in Great Place to Work
In March 2021, after a year of pandemic, we made an anonymous survey to all the people who work at Abstracta. Pleasantly, we were met with very constructive responses and we realized that we had managed to sustain a culture that deserved to be told.
So we contacted Great Place to Work for the first time, which evaluated us, cross-checked a vast amount of data, and certified us as a company to participate in their rankings every year.
We are very pleased to have been nominated to participate in the 3 Great Place to Work rankings.
In March of this year, we were included in the TOP 10 of “Best Places to Work in Uruguay”. In December 2021, we announced that we were included in the TOP 10 of the “Best Places to Work for Millennials”. And now, we were chosen as one of the best places to work for women in Uruguay.
These rankings evaluate the fairness of the companies’ proposals, and being among the leading players is a real honor.
